Our starting point for this project: How should high-quality tea be prepared in contemporary Western society?
The preparation method should be modern and suited to our Western lifestyle, rather than an Asian-style tea ceremony.
And we wanted to create an exceptional design piece, not a technical gadget. Not like the ‘soulless’ tea-brewing equipment already available on the market.”

The full taste is achieved using fresh water and by leaving the tea leaves to freely unfurl during preparation. Most premium tea uses whole leaves, which unfold and slowly sink to the bottom of the preparation vessel. Oolong tea e.g can be infused up to 3-4 times. Our design study makes this fascinating process tangible.
